Yesterday was a very sad day.

I tend to withhold politics from Facebook and my ataxia blog.  But I am bursting.


Tennessee?   You are screwed if you do not agree with the majority.  The racism and non-democracy were on display for the world to see.  They are already looking at impeaching the newly elected judge in Wisconsin.  What world do we live in?  Banned books?  Banned drag?  Banned transsexuals?


I was attacked on Facebook yesterday for asking for advice on prong collars.  Told that my dog would not pull if I stopped abusing her.  This is my third dog so I’m well-aware of the controversy on aversion training.  Easy to attack via keyboard.  Coward.


Blocking on Facebook for disagreeing with your political views?


Covid:  people, for a variety of reasons, refused to do the things to control the pandemic which began in 2020.  In the summer of 2022, my husband and I were both sick with Covid.  I was in bed for three weeks and lost 60 pounds.  As I am in a wheelchair, this could have killed me.  Now in 2023, my son and his whole family are sick with Covid.  It’s over, right?  When did people stop caring for their neighbors?


I’m glad to be at the end of my life and not at the beginning.  I’m appreciative of my hermit lifestyle.


Easter is Sunday.  A time for renewal.  Look in your heart.  Are you due for renewal?

  You might think, from these postings, that I have the greatest ataxia attitude ever.  But I have my days.  Today I can’t stop crying. This is an incredibly difficult thing to deal with.  Everyone with ataxia (unless they’re in complete denial) has days like this.  Today all my advice about meditation and exercise is out the window.  It’s a grieving day. Some of you may have gotten annoyed with my happy talk.  Please read my posts on Rage, Suicide, Depression.  Happy talk?  As Sheryl Crow said, “No one said this would be easy.” I have no advice for days like this.  They happen.  I just need to ride this out.  I bought black-out shades for my room so I’m going to my dark hole.

 I’m back, bitches!  I’m much worse and have lots to say. I was diagnosed with some type of cerebellar ataxia in 1988.  I was confirmed as SCA6 in 1998 by genetic bloodwork. Here’s a cute dog picture.  The big one is Dasher and she is a trained service dog 🦮.  The puppy is Jax and she is a service dog in training 🐾.  I will have much more to say about service dogs for ataxians later.

I hope you all are doing well. I was just checking up on ataxia trial news. If you ever want to check out what is going on yourself, google  clinicaltrials.gov  and just type in SCA6 or whatever disease you are interested in into the search box. Doing this reminded me that the PRIME-Ataxia exercise study is recruiting. This study allows remote participation (flyer attached). I also listened to a video about how the first FDA approval of a medicine to help with  Freidrich's ataxia  came about.
